When I first read The Gutenberg Elegies by Sven Birkerts, I was struck by how he wrote on the tail of history—trying to grasp the deeper shifts beneath the surface of digitization and its waves of hype. Thirty years later, I find myself in a similar moment, watching AI reshape how we write, read, and think.
These essays are my way of keeping pace with that change. They’re not about technology so much, but about what it does to meaning, creativity, and our sense of being human.
